Hamilton Photographers Rock top fundraising team for YWCA’s Walk a Mile in Her Shoes!

Cyndi Ingle with HPR’s award for Top Fundraising team!

The members of Hamilton Photographers Rock and their family and friends rallied about this important cause in our community in the summer of 2017.

Thanks to the amazing fundraising team of Cyndi Ingle, Sandy Rose, Kathleen Gemmel, and John McAlley over $10,000 was raised for the annual YWCA Hamilton’s Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser.

The HPR team!

HPR was extremely proud to be the top fundraising team!

The funds raised help women and children who are at risk in our community and facing violence, to secure a safe place to life and the resources to make a better life for themselves.

MANY thanks to all who contributed when asked to do so.

All amounts were gratefully accepted and appreciated!

On Sunday, July 5, 2015 I had the pleasure of joining a group of fun loving Hamilton performers at historic Grant Avenue Studio as they taped the voices for an animated movie for children called  “The Adventures of Shadow and Ally.” I was hired by Whitehall Entertainment to document all the fun (and the hard work) as the Hamilton cast provided their singing and vocal talents for the upcoming movie.

The recording studio was buzzing with talent! In the house were Lily Sazz, Lori Yates, Sharon Washington, Robin Benedict, Tiffany Thompson, Gavin De Graaff and Judd Brucke.

A special guest, not from the Hammer but that’s okay…was Heather Moyse, two time Olympic gold medal winner in bobsled who lent her vocal (and considerable dancing skills) to the recording as well!

Helping out on the organizing and techie end were Bonnie Whitehall (video),  Jessica Finch (script supervisor), Carrie Horn (production assistant), and sound engineer Amy King and intern Andrew.

I will keep you posted about the release of the film!

Reclaiming Desire: 2nd Annual Hamilton Photographers Rock Photography Exhibit, Steel Lounge

robin7Hamilton Photographers Rock (HPR) is hosted their 2nd Annual Photo Show: Reclaiming Desire at the Steel Lounge!

Twenty HPR members displayed photos that explored gender roles and concepts of sexuality, beauty and desire in our society.

What makes someone beautiful, sexy or desirable in your eyes? Is this personal preference or has the media and cultural influences shaped our desires in ways we may not even realize?

The show took place at Hamilton’s newest LGBTQ + ally bar, the Steel Lounge.

Hamilton Photographers Rock is a facebook group with over 2000 members which I created in 2012. Members are both professional and non-professional photographers and the philosophy of the group is to share art, support each other to improve our craft, and to help our community.

HPR has hosted photo shows and workshops for its members and been involved with community fundraisers benefiting City Kidz, Interval House, and the Ancaster Community Food Drive.

Please join HPR on facebook. For more information please email Cyndi at cingle09@gmail.com.
